There are… 3 days left before December starts. 27 days left until Christmas. 34 days of this year left to go. 9 days left before E and I fly back to California for the holidays. 9 days left before E and I see our family back home. 18 days left before Jason joins us there. 18 days left before Jason sees our family and us at home. 12 long hours we’ll be spending on the plane heading towards California. 13 long hours spent coming back to Tokyo. 10 more people I need to get gifts for Christmas. 2 height charts that need to be madeRead More →

I suppose Black Friday has come and gone along with another year of Thanksgiving. I hope that those of you who went out to join in on the discounted shopping got the things you had your eyes on. For the rest of us who either shopped online for deals and discounts or those of us who decided to forgo the whole event, I hope you had good rest after your Thanksgiving meals. For me, I did a little online shopping but not too much. All the Black Friday hoopla with people camping out in front of stores in the wee hours before stores opened onRead More →

My friend, Amber, over at Life, Love, Green is doing this monthly challenge where we share the things that we appreciate in our significant others. Since I don’t talk about Jason as much as I do about E, I thought it would be nice to share some of the things about Jason that I love so much. There are many things I love about him. One of those things is his selflessness. In fact, there is one specific moment that really sticks in my mind. This happened several years ago, before we were even engaged. Jason and I had been dating for a little overRead More →

I want to wish my family and all my friends in/from the US a Happy Thanksgiving. This is our 5th year of spending Thanksgiving overseas so there was no turkey or large family gatherings for us or even a Thanksgiving holiday. I do miss family during this time of the year but I am thankful that I will always have a home to return to whenever we go back. I am thankful for a lot of things big and small and I had wanted to write a list of every single thing I’m thankful for but that might take forever to complete. So instead, IRead More →

Since I’m a bit stressed over putting the finishing touches to my final portfolio for my poetry class, I’m having a change of plans and share one of the poems I wrote for my class. Normally, I avoid scarring people with my poetry but I’ll do it just this once since I don’t have the time to write a good post on gratitude, family or Thanksgiving. This one was inspired by my recent dream about my grandfather. It’s not based on an actual event either and I know the ending sounds a little weird but that’s the best I can do when I’m short onRead More →

One of the benefits of sending E to a Japanese daycare is that I get to learn new words with her. One of the words you’ll hear frequently around E these days is なかよしさん (nakayoshi-san) which means “good friend”. E really loves using that word to refer to Bear or to Jason and me which totally melts our hearts 🙂 One of the things that E enjoys doing to reinforce this idea of a close relationship is having us do the same things at the same time. If Jason is playing video games, she would bring out her iPad and have me sit down withRead More →

I had an interesting dream last night. Technically, all my dreams are interesting and a bit strange but last nights dream was different. I had a dream about my grandfather, the one who passed away 10 years ago. It wasn’t a dream about him when he was still alive. No, it felt more like he was visiting me in my dream a decade after his death. I don’t remember a lot of the details about why he was there. All I can recall is that I was visiting my sister and she told me that my grandfather was there. He wanted us to do somethingRead More →

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a video so here’s one for your enjoyment 🙂 This was taken today when we were on the monorail heading towards Haneda airport. We’re not flying anywhere. We just go to the airport to eat and to watch airplanes take off. Some explanations: – In the beginning of the video, you see E grabbing something from my lap and patting it onto Jason’s lap. It’s something strange that she does whenever Jason pretends to “chop” me or pretends to rip chunks of my muscle to “eat”. She would yell at him to stop and then goes to “replace”Read More →
