Funny how I posted back in March but then everything went silent again. Yea, I do that a lot these days. To be honest, I was ready to toss in the towel with the blog. Social media is so popular and easy to use these days that I find myself posting a lot on Facebook and on Instagram. In fact, I have three instagram accounts. THREE!! I can barely keep up with those so it’s no surprise I can keep up with everything. However, last night Jason was looking through the blog to show E some pictures from when she was younger. He ended upRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.” Yes, this was taken a few weeks back. We were on our way to a bbq with friends and the girls decided they wanted to look out the window. We had fun that day 🙂 Remember how I talked about writing during me weekend off? Well that never happened. I was enjoying being alone in nature so much that by the time I got back into my hotel room, I was exhausted and too tired to blog. So I didn’t. But it was a good trip. A much needed one since I hadRead More →

This month has been a very active month. So much traveling around, my in-laws visiting, science fair, E’s birthday, and the end of E’s kindergarten years. It has been a good month I think. By the way, I realized I never posted the one for February since we were in Kyoto at the time the month ended and things got so busy afterwards that it slipped my mind. So check out what our February looked like.Read More →

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities. My in-laws arrived at the end of February and the six of us whirled off to a weekend in Kyoto. When we came back, we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday followed by E’s birthday the day after. After spending a week with them, they left for Hong Kong and we attended (semi-co-hosted) a belated birthday party for E and her best friend, Charlotte. The following few days after were filled with massive decluttering as I tried to gather things to give away at her school’s White Elephant sale. All while battling really bad allergies (hay fever).Read More →

Can you believe it?! This little monkey is 2 years old today! 2 years old! It makes me sad that she is growing up so fast but I’m also happy to watch her become a little person with so much personality and spunk. We usually keep our birthdays low-key and this year is no different. I bought K an Olaf ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and we had a simple dinner with just the four of us at home. After dinner and cake, we opened her birthday present which she spent the rest of the evening playing. They’re all princess toys, by the way.Read More →

This year has been quite the roller coaster year. I definitely didn’t see the year coming to an end on the down side though. Here’s a quick recap of how our year went… January started off with a lot of festivities with friends from E’s school. We enjoyed a Japanese New Years dinner followed by a Epiphany celebration a few days later. Then we had snow. Lots and lots of it. Oh, and K starts walking! In February, we celebrated Chinese New Years with friends. We also celebrated K’s 1st birthday and squeezed in a trip to Tokyo Disney before E turned 5 in earlyRead More →

It’s been several years since Jason and I really celebrated Thanksgiving, even longer since the last time we celebrated with more than just 4 people. It always felt a little sad celebrating it in Tokyo without our entire family since I’ve always celebrated Thanksgiving with a big and loud family get-together and more food than we could eat. This year, since we’ve moved to a bigger place where we can actually invite guests over, we decided to host a Thanksgiving dinner party at our home and invite a few of the families we’ve come to know really well from E’s school. And I have toRead More →

October has been a weird month. Going home and taking care of family stuff was hard. I’ve been able to talk to people about my trip home but on a more superficial level. I try not to think too much about it because it’s hard on me especially since I’m so far away from my family when I’m in Tokyo. Plus, the most common question I get asked by everyone who knew that I left Tokyo abruptly is “Is everything okay?” and I don’t know how to answer that question because I don’t know if everything is or will be okay. It’s also been aRead More →
