It’s hard to believe that a whole year has come and gone and that Kaylie turns 1 today. One year ago today, this little bundle of madness made her debut into our little family. She fit right into the family without too much drama. It helped that we knew how to care for a baby this time. Plus Kaylie was an easier baby than Ellie. Well, they were different but it was to be expected. I feel like the year with her went by much faster than with E. I think K even hit her milestones a lot earlier than E did, though K didn’tRead More →

This post has been sitting here waiting for me to finish it for the whole month of January. I’ve been having a hard time finding my word for 2014. I guess I could’ve chosen a phrase but to be honest, I was having trouble trying to put my goals and what I hope to achieve this year into words. Just as a recap, my words for 2011, 2012, and 2013 were “Go”, “Change”, and “Flow” respectively. For me, instead of making resolutions that I was sure to break, I decided to choose a word to help guide me through the year. These past 3 yearsRead More →

Wow, two posts in one month! It’s amazing whenever I get a post written these days let alone 2 in one month. My time away from the blog is a good thing though because I’m spending that time with my kids, especially Kaylie. The first year of a baby’s life goes by so quickly that I’m trying to savor every minute of it as much as possible because I won’t get another chance to once she’s out of the baby phase. Kay has grown so much in the 10 weeks she’s been here. Whenever I flip through photos I’ve taken in the past few weeks,Read More →

This morning, I carried a half awake E to her school after a 15 minute bus ride from our home. I greeted the teachers who were signing in each student as their parents dropped them off. I told her teachers she would be staying later today for the after school Christmas party and I gave E a kiss on the head. I told her to have fun at the party and that we’ll see her after school. Then I left for work knowing that at the end of the day when I pick her up, she will have a huge smile on her face andRead More →

If you can take only one picture, what would you capture? This was a question that a speaker had asked us at one of the lectures I attended a few weeks ago. It’s an interesting question especially since we live in a time where digital cameras make it possible for us to take limitless amounts of photos. I almost feel as if the ease of the digital age has made us think less about what and how we want to capture something because you can just keep taking a photo until you get the right one. I also find it quite thought provoking because youRead More →

Ah, it is finally starting to feel like springtime in Tokyo. The city is currently quite pink ever since the cherry blossom trees went into full bloom last week. Many people are heading out and having picnics and getting drunk. It’s definitely an interesting time of the year. Of course, it’s also a season for allergies. Everywhere you go you’ll see people wearing masks and stores are stocked full of products that’ll help alleviate allergies. Even I have finally succumbed to the pollen in the air. Did you know that you can develop pollen allergy just by being exposed to large amounts of it everyRead More →

Last year, instead of making a list of resolutions that were waiting to be broken, I chose a word that helped guide me in my daily life. My word for 2011 was “Go” and go I did. I accomplished a lot of things I would not have normally done because of my habit of second guessing myself. Looking back at my 2011 I realized something else though. I started on many new adventures but finishing them was another story. It’s a bad habit of mine that I’ve tried changing many times but seem to have trouble with. So that leads me to my word forRead More →

It’s the last day of the year and with about 2 hours left before the new year I feel like I should write a 2011 wrap-up post. The wordle for 2011 based on this year’s posts. This year has been an interesting one for all of us. It was a rough year for many countries too with political uprisings in the middle east and natural disasters everywhere ranging from earthquakes, floods, tornadoes and incredible heat and snow. There were royal weddings, the biggest and most watched one being the British royal wedding (though the Bhutan royal wedding was just as impressive in my opinion). ThereRead More →
