Guess who’s 9 months today? No, not me….though there are times I wish I was. Ellie’s 9 months today!  Hooray!  That means that in 3 more months, she will be hitting a big milestone by turning 1! So at 9 months, what kind of madness is she up to these days?  Well…. – She can definitely crawl and quite fast especially when she realizes that I will be walking to a different part of the room.  She can sure chase you down! – She’s got her 2 bottom teeth!  You can see it in the picture above.  I think the top ones are coming soon. Read More →

Recently I signed up for an online blogging class.  It’s not so much that I need to learn how to blog since I’ve been doing it for a long time now (6 years maybe?).  I did it to help stimulate my thoughts and to get me to blog more often since I have a tendency to go days and weeks without a single post. I’m about 2 weeks behind on the prompts that were given and since it’s a self paced class, I figure I can just catch up on those on some other days…. Anyway, today’s prompt is about looking back in time toRead More →

I had wanted to share the post labor story since it’s different how they handle it here in Tokyo than in the US.  Sorry it took so long to get it out. So….in Japan, almost all hospitals let you stay for a week after you give birth.  I think a lot of it has to do with preparing you for motherhood as well as letting you rest and recover from the birthing experience.  Plus they can do all the checkups and whatnots with the baby.  In theory, that’s a great idea since you can rest and enjoy your baby with the nurses helping you beforeRead More →

*Warning: the word boob appears quite frequently* I’m starting to feel tired of breastfeeding. Don’t get me wrong, I love to breastfeed E. I’ve put so much effort into it when I first began and I’ve been through hell just to get it to work that I’m very determined to breastfeed her for as long as I can. But breastfeeding is starting to wear me out. Ever since my parents came to visit and then left, E has been acting unlike herself. She is more clingy to me and has slight stranger anxiety. She tends to cry or fuss when Jason holds her or whenRead More →

The following morning, the nurse came in at 9am to check on us.   She found that the foley catheter had worked and I was about 5 cm dilated.   It was then time to move me into the delivery room where I would spend most of my time until the delivery. The delivery room wasn’t too far from where my room was.  So it was a short walk down the hallway, which was nice since I was tired. I wasn’t allowed to eat all day but I was allowed to have something to drink to keep me hydrated.  I think it was to preventRead More →

Jason and I had about 3 1/2 days between my last doctor’s visit and the day I was to be admitted to the hospital.  We spent those last days the best we can as just the two of us, knowing that our lives will change really soon. On March 3rd, we spent the morning getting ready, mentally and emotionally for the days to come.  It was really strange looking at our apartment before we left, knowing that it was the last time we would be in the apartment alone.  This was the last photo we took before we left. So hard to imagine that IRead More →

I never really thought about writing out Ellie’s birth story. Not sure why. Maybe because I feel like I’ve talked about it to many people already that I don’t feel the need to. It wasn’t until Melissa mentioned to me that she’s never actually heard the entire event and would like me to write about it that I gave it some thought. Now it’s been 4 months since her birth but I can still remember the day she was born pretty clearly. For me, giving birth was a very traumatic event. I think it has to do a lot with the fact that so manyRead More →

Before E was born, Jason and I took a 2 day birthing class with 9 other couples. Here we all are before giving birth…. We’re all probably around 8 months pregnant at this point in time. Anyway, today E and I met up with some of the moms and their babies.  Mostly to just hang out and share birth stories and also to check out each others babies. I present to you 6 of the graduates of this birthing class…. They’re all really adorable, aren’t they? E is the oldest since I was the first in the class to give birth.  Sakura (the one passedRead More →
