Things are getting a lot better these days with Ellie.  Much better than during the first 6 weeks of her life. Those 6 weeks were pretty long….. and now I’ve sort of fallen into a routine with her that seems to be working. We wake up everyday around 10-ish (sometimes a little earlier but never later than 12pm). I feed her, Jason changes her and she and I go out to the living room to do our morning “exercise” routine. Technically it’s just playtime but I call it exercise. About an hour or two, she starts to get a little sleepy and on most days,Read More →

HA!! I got my action shot of her lifting her head!! I also have it on video where she lifts her head and then rolls over to her back! Unfortunately, my PC died on me several weeks ago and the video format of the video camera does not work with my macbook. It’ll be a while before I can convert the video format to something I can upload…. But I have my picture!Read More →

For the record, Ellie officially lifted her head today! Yay! She’s technically been slowly lifting it a little bit every time we put her on her tummy. She usually lifts her head maybe 1-2 cms from the ground but within 5 mins or so start crying from frustration. By the way, she hates tummy time. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos to commemorate this momentus event. Why? Because it happened during our Mommy & Me class. I was really surprised when she, while on her tummy, got on her elbows and lifted her head up high and looked straight ahead instead of at theRead More →

Ellie had her 2 month checkup today as well as her first set of vaccination shots. It’s truly amazing how fast she’s growing up in just a few weeks.  Last month, her weight was at 3940g and her height was 52 cm.  At today’s checkup, her weight is 5190g and her height, 56.4cm.  That’s quite a lot of weight gain there! She is definitely heavier.  Carrying her around in the Baby Bjorn is no easy task these days, especially with the early onset of humidity and warm weather.  I only notice her height increase when I hold her close to me.  Her little body alsoRead More →

Socks and Ellie do not mix. For some reason, whenever I put socks on Ellie, she somehow manages to lose a sock.  I know, I know…I shouldn’t blame her since they just “fall” off her feet.  Really….they just fall right off. So far we are 2 for 2. Both pairs were also brand new socks too…. The first time she lost a sock, it happened at the cherry blossom festival and in a large crowd of people.  The second time was in a Babies R Us.  Oddly enough, I couldn’t find that darn sock even after scouring the entire store several times. I blame myselfRead More →

Yay it is Golden Week! Technically, every week for me is golden week since I don’t work…but the best thing about golden week is that Jason has 5 days off…which means he will be home to help take care of Ellie! It also means he gets a little more face time with her since he doesn’t get to chill with her that often. Ellie’s starting to recognize me more now and would sometimes smile when she sees me. Her smile can really melt your heart and make you forget that you haven’t slept for more than 3 hours the night before. Ah, I love myRead More →

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Ellie’s already 7 weeks old. I have to agree with many moms that this period of the baby’s life really goes by in a flash, even though it can sometimes feel like it’s really slow when she cries or acts fussy. Two weekends ago, the three of us made a trip out to Shinjuku for a picnic under the cherry blossoms with the Tokyo Mother’s group. It was the first time the three of us went that far for a long period of time and it was nice. Ellie was calm the entire trip and I think she enjoyedRead More →

Up until today, Ellie has never been on public transportation. The few times I’ve gone out, I’ve walked to the locations because they’re near our apartment or I’ve taken a taxi. I guess I didn’t feel comfortable taking her into crowded, enclosed spaces. That and I always have this fear that she’ll wake up and scream bloody murder. Today, the two of us took her first trip on the subway and then later on her first trip on a bus. Both trips were good trips since she stayed asleep. We first stopped by the international school where I worked. They were having a baby showerRead More →
