This child…. She smiled, looked at us and rubbed both of her rice-filled hands into her hair while we watched in shock. Then she laughed and threw rice at us. Crazy child.Read More →
This weekend felt like a very, very long weekend. Normally, I try not to post on weekends. It’s mostly because I’m trying to spend less time at the computer and more time with the family and getting the rest I need. However, this weekend….I think I just need a small break and unload my brain a little… This heat wave we’ve been getting is really horrible. Apparently, it’s one of the hottest summers that Tokyo has had ever. Of course it’s also pretty hot all over the world right now too so were all getting baked alive together…unless you live in Australia, from what IRead More →
Jason and E have a strange relationship. It’s a strange one because I think they are always jealous of each other when it comes to monopolizing my free time. E definitely doesn’t like it when Jason gets too close to me. She has this method of wedging herself between us and try to push him away. I’m pretty sure that Jason misses those days when he didn’t have to compete for my attention. Still there are times when they can coexist together….often times it involves me not present in the room with them. It’s during these peaceful moments that Jason likes to admire just howRead More →
Look what came in the mail today! My sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project 2011 has arrived! (see this post) The theme is the one above the barcode. Rules and guidelines My library card The other side of library card. Could’ve started messing around with it today. Instead, I chose to spend the day hanging out and playing with E to make up for my absence on Sunday. It was totally worth it 🙂Read More →
Ah, I am now officially on summer break! Took my only final today and turned in the paper that I spent pretty much the entire weekend working on. My brain is fried. No, it hurts because I spent the last 48 hours thinking, analyzing and pretty much absorbed in writing a paper on Oedipus. I am sooo over him now. My own fault, really, since I procrastinated on writing the paper. But hey, I wrote a 16 page paper when the minimum requirement was only 4 pages! Talk about being an overachiever! More importantly I’m done for now! But first I’m going to rest upRead More →
Today is tanabata in Japan. I posted about it last year when E and I ventured out to celebrate it at the local temple. You can read about that adventure here. This year, because of the heat, humidity and the strange weather pattern (ok, mostly because of the heat and humidity), we didn’t go out for tanabata. However, the nursery that E attends did celebrate it and they even made something with the kids to bring home 🙂 So behold, E’s first art project from “school”… Ok, technically the green tree branch is a fake plastic one that’s most likely store bought… There’s 4 paperRead More →
Ah, it’s only Monday and my brain is already going barabara. What’s barabara (pronounced bah-ra-bah-ra)? It’s a Japanese onomatopoeia that means scattered; disperse; loose; disconnected; in pieces; in drops; rustling. So, yes, my brain is currently barabara…. Let’s talk about Jason for a little bit…as an update to how he’s doing and all…. Jason’s actually doing really great. Well, not great in the way that his illness has gone away and he is back to his old self again. No, it’s great in the way that his inflammation levels have gone up slower than before, which in Jason terms means that it’s a good signRead More →
