Wow, it’s the end of April already! I never intended on taking such a long break from the blog but I guess it couldn’t be helped. This month has been a busy one (well they all are in one way or another). I have been a bit more out of commission this month though, hence the lack of updates the entire month. First, Jason’s parents visited us for the first week and a half of April. They came at the perfect time since cherry blossoms are in full bloom and they got to see it finally. Of course, we also had a bit of rainyRead More →

For E’s school’s science fair, I did an experiment with the kids for the parent participation portion. We blew a balloon using a chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda 🙂 enjoying living in our current neighborhood. Sometimes when I’m walking around our area, I wish we didn’t have to move because I really love where we live. But we want E to attend a particular elementary so it’s necessary for us to move. watching Disney Junior shows. My favorite one is Octonauts. Doc McStuffins is pretty good too 🙂 reading nothing. I don’t really have any time to read these days. listening to songsRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” We needed to go to the US embassy to renew E’s passport so after I picked E up from school, we headed to the embassy. Both parents had to be present in order for us to file for a renewal for a child under 16 so we had to wait for Jason to arrive at the embassy before we could go in. Both girls were being impatient and grumpy so I made them sit on the stairs to calm down. They were both clutching these flyers they got from the taxi we tookRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” Two portraits this week just to mix it up a little. Ellie: E was using the iPad mini while Jason was working on putting Kaylie down for a nap. All the light that I’m using here is the light from her iPad.  Kaylie: She’s a bit on edge lately and has been driving me crazy with her shrieking when she doesn’t get what she wants. Getting her to sit still for even a moment is a bit of work these days. I’m taking an online class on finding the light for photographing peopleRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” These two kids are just so sweet. Jason had just gotten home and we were talking about something when we realized the kids were being really quiet. We looked over and saw them together like that and I just had to get a photo. 🙂 This month has been crazy so far. It’s the last month before the older kids leave for elementary school in April so the school tries to cram a whole bunch of activity before they leave. E’s school is an international school and follows the standard September to JuneRead More →

E turned 5 today. 5! She turned 5! Today! Wow. It’s really amazing when I think about how quickly 5 years have gone by. And it’s even more amazing when you see how much she’s grown in this one year. She talks more and is very good at expressing herself with words. She’s also very lively and her imagination is all over the place. She loves to sing and dance, mostly at home. She’s into power rangers and super heroes but also love Disney princesses and my little pony. She’s got way too much energy us and loves to talk all the time. She drivesRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” Despite the 4 year age gap, there are times when both E and K play well together. Especially now that K is older, more mobile, and less fragile, you’ll often find these two monkeys wrestling with one another playfully. Today is Hina Matsuri, or Girls’ Day, in Japan. Traditionally, people put out these beautiful doll sets for display and prepare pretty looking food to celebrate this day. We don’t own any of the dolls since they are expensive and I find them a little creepy (well all dolls tend to creep me out).Read More →

You’ll have to excuse my lack of enthusiasm in this post. My body aches from being sick, I think, and it distracts me from my thoughts. Currently, enjoying watching K explore her world now that she can walk. watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. E is really into this series and I find myself watching it too since it brings back memories of when I use to watch it as a kid. reading nothing at the moment. listening Pentatonix because they’re covers of pop songs are amazing. making birthday cakes because there’s only 2 weeks between the girls birthdays. feeling crummy at the moment.Read More →
