So according to anniversary traditions, the 8th year is either bronze or pottery gifts or if you’re going modern, it’ll be lace or linen. Luckily, Jason and I are not the types who follow traditions because neither of us are really into bronze, pottery, lace, or linen. So, 8 years. Lucky number 8. My birthday is on an 8th. 8 is my favorite number too. 8 years sounds like a long time but it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. Maybe having kids distorts our perception of time. Either way, it’s been an awesome 8 years together. We’ve had 8 good, happy years andRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” Bath time portrait. These days, it’s just easier bathing them together since they like to play in the tub together. Unfortunately, our new home has a smaller tub so they won’t be able to enjoy bath time as much as they do now.   It’s been a while since I’ve posted a photo for this project. Things keep piling up and I lose track of time. So here is week 25. We’re almost halfway done with the year and we have a week left of living in this apartment. If you saw ourRead More →

So this happened yesterday, (Thanks to my friend, Sarah Jane, (well, technically her husband) for getting this photo of her! I stole a few from her blogpost) Yesterday, was E’s Kindergarten graduation ceremony. Technically, she will still be attending the same school next school-year but will be leaving midway to start Japanese elementary so they celebrated her “graduation” the year before. It’s a bit confusing for many of our friends and family back home because she’s technically in Pre-K because of her age but if we’re following the Japanese school system, she would technically be a kindergartener from this past April. Anyway… Because this wasRead More →

Yesterday night before falling asleep, I had the perfect post composed in my head that I was going to type up as soon as I got K to sleep. But then I fell asleep with her and when I woke up, I cannot for the life of me remember what I wanted to write. But it was going to be about what a great dad Jason is because he really is an awesome dad. You can see it from the way the kids light up when he comes home from work or when they fight over who gets to sit closer to daddy. He makesRead More →

So this is happening soon… This month is a busy one. Tomorrow, the moms at E’s school will be having a farewell luncheon for 2 moms who are leaving Japan after this school year. In 3 days, we’re going to start meeting with various moving companies and getting quotes from them for our move. In a week, it’s Father’s Day. In 10 days, E is graduating from Kindergarten. She will still be at this school until next April since the Japanese school year starts from April. She will be a 1st grader when that time comes! In 11 days, E will start summer break. It’sRead More →

I’m going to do this post a little differently from the previous months. Mostly because May has been quite the month of craziness and I’m still trying to comprehend all the changes that are coming our way next month. Currently, I’m still in shock that we finally found a new apartment to move into. The whole housing issue has been a big stress factor for Jason and me because the school zone we want to live in is small and the places are either too small or too expensive. We found so many nice apartments that fit our requirements except they were just barely outsideRead More →

I feel like I’m constantly falling behind these days. A part of me feels like having an iPhone is the reason why I’m not blogging as much. It’s a really strange logic but I think the convenience of having something that would record everything for me makes me even less eager to sit down and blog about things. I have snapshots, voice memos, and facebook status that help me keep track of all the little things in life and having to sit down and digest through everything again so that I can make a post feels like a little unnecessary sometimes. But I think notRead More →

I find myself recording more videos on my phone recently than taking photos. Mostly because I’ve been compiling them into this app called “1 second everyday”. So here’s a snippet of our month of April. enjoying the effects of melatonin in the cold medicine I’ve been taking. I sleep so well at night. watching and rewatching episodes of “Modern Family.” reading up on fevers and what to do when my toddler has a high fever. listening to E talk my ears off. She has a lot to say. making …there is an Elsa dress in the making. It’s almost finished. feeling sick and tired. planningRead More →
