“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.”   K really loves to eat baby puffs and has learned to eat them from a bowl. E enjoys helping her out by putting more puffs in her bowl for her. This was before K decided she wanted to turn her bowl upside down and pour the snacks out. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Lunar New Year! We’ve had a busy day today, one that I will share in a later post since it deserves a post of its own. But it was a day of celebration with wonderful friendsRead More →

This post has been sitting here waiting for me to finish it for the whole month of January. I’ve been having a hard time finding my word for 2014. I guess I could’ve chosen a phrase but to be honest, I was having trouble trying to put my goals and what I hope to achieve this year into words. Just as a recap, my words for 2011, 2012, and 2013 were “Go”, “Change”, and “Flow” respectively. For me, instead of making resolutions that I was sure to break, I decided to choose a word to help guide me through the year. These past 3 yearsRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” This week I have separate portraits of the girls, both of them on the only couch that we own in our little living room. K’s portrait is taken during the weekday when we are home together. She’s always crawling around without pants even though it’s cold in the apartment. E’s portrait was taken on the weekend after we got home from brunch. She’s wearing a Cinderella-like dress around the apartment a lot on the weekends. These days, K is super active and interactive with us. She’s also got a lot of opinions forRead More →

I love documenting my family but sometimes, I feel like I’m missing myself when I document our lives. So in an effort to include a bit of my own story, I’m going to start writing down things in my life that is happening right now. I’m probably going to make it a monthly thing though since not many exciting things actually happen to me. Currently… enjoying my one-on-one time with K while she’s still a baby. watching “Sherlock” (series 3) on the AppleTV. I just love this series so much. reading blogs I haven’t read in a long while. Mostly through Feedly though. listening toRead More →

Have you seen the movie “Frozen” yet? We saw it when we went back to California for the holidays and now we’re all obsessed with the movie and the songs. It’s definitely got the Disney touch that has been missing for a while now (though “Tangled” was pretty good too). I just love the movie so much and can’t wait for it to be released at the theaters in Tokyo in March. It’s also because of this movie that E has become a little bit more excited about the idea of snow. It snows about once or twice a year in Tokyo and even thoughRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” E and K wanted to take a sister selfie while on the bus so I obliged because it kept them busy. These days, Both E and K have little patience and get really bored during our bus ride home from school. It’s only 15 minutes but sometimes it feels a lot longer especially when they decide to fight and get into a screaming match often when the bus is at a red light. It’s times like those that I wish I could drive in Tokyo. At least all the screams and crying willRead More →

I have a confession. I have an addiction problem. I’m addicted to my iPhone. There, it’s out. Whew. It wasn’t always this bad. At least I don’t think it was before we had K. Having a baby around meant there was no way I could use my computer since I am always with her, which in turn made my iPhone my primary communication device. I use it while I breastfeed. I used it while I held a sleeping baby in my arms. I used it while on the train or bus. I used it while at the restaurant waiting for food to arrive. I usedRead More →

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” E: Wanted a hug from Jason. K: Wants to chew on everything these days. This was taken on the 3rd of January at the Denny’s in our neighborhood. We had originally planned on having brunch at Coco’s in another part of town but there was a really bad fire that happened in Yurakucho (2 stations away) which shut down the trains for a few hours so we came here instead. We found out how bad the situation was when we got home. A building next to the train lines (one we passed byRead More →
