Recently I signed up for an online blogging class.  It’s not so much that I need to learn how to blog since I’ve been doing it for a long time now (6 years maybe?).  I did it to help stimulate my thoughts and to get me to blog more often since I have a tendency to go days and weeks without a single post. I’m about 2 weeks behind on the prompts that were given and since it’s a self paced class, I figure I can just catch up on those on some other days…. Anyway, today’s prompt is about looking back in time toRead More →

Ellie had her 2 month checkup today as well as her first set of vaccination shots. It’s truly amazing how fast she’s growing up in just a few weeks.  Last month, her weight was at 3940g and her height was 52 cm.  At today’s checkup, her weight is 5190g and her height, 56.4cm.  That’s quite a lot of weight gain there! She is definitely heavier.  Carrying her around in the Baby Bjorn is no easy task these days, especially with the early onset of humidity and warm weather.  I only notice her height increase when I hold her close to me.  Her little body alsoRead More →

Socks and Ellie do not mix. For some reason, whenever I put socks on Ellie, she somehow manages to lose a sock.  I know, I know…I shouldn’t blame her since they just “fall” off her feet.  Really….they just fall right off. So far we are 2 for 2. Both pairs were also brand new socks too…. The first time she lost a sock, it happened at the cherry blossom festival and in a large crowd of people.  The second time was in a Babies R Us.  Oddly enough, I couldn’t find that darn sock even after scouring the entire store several times. I blame myselfRead More →

Wow, it’s my first real Mother’s Day!  How exciting! Flowers from my hamster kids 🙂 Technically, today wasn’t a very exciting day.  In fact, it was a very ordinary day with one exception…I had a lot of free time for myself!  It’s been so long since I’ve had a free moment to do whatever I want… I woke up really early this morning because Ellie was hungry.  After I fed her and put her down IN HER OWN CRIB (Yay!) I sat down and worked on my computer while both Ellie and Jason slept.  Other than the occasional feed, I was pretty much undisturbed allRead More →

Trying to decide if I should move my blog from xanga to wordpress. It’s hard since I’ve been with Xanga for 6 years now and it’s a relatively easy to use blogging platform.  On the other hand, I have my own hosted site with wordpress that’s just sitting there waiting for me to update. It was originally meant to be a hamster blog but given how little time I have these days, I’m thinking of combining the two.  Hmm, xanga or wordpress…  For now I’ll just use posterous to post to both sites until I make up my mind.Read More →

The Tokyo Mother’s Group had a special photo session day today for families who wanted to have their portraits taken professionally. It’s a nice deal because we didn’t have to pay the sitting fee and we had about 20 minutes for photos. Afterwards, in about a week or so, we can go online and check out the photos and if we see any we want, we can pay for them to be printed. As for the quality of the photos…well, I’d have to see the final product before I can judge how professional it looks. Overall the shoot went ok. All three of us weren’tRead More →

Yay it is Golden Week! Technically, every week for me is golden week since I don’t work…but the best thing about golden week is that Jason has 5 days off…which means he will be home to help take care of Ellie! It also means he gets a little more face time with her since he doesn’t get to chill with her that often. Ellie’s starting to recognize me more now and would sometimes smile when she sees me. Her smile can really melt your heart and make you forget that you haven’t slept for more than 3 hours the night before. Ah, I love myRead More →

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Ellie’s already 7 weeks old. I have to agree with many moms that this period of the baby’s life really goes by in a flash, even though it can sometimes feel like it’s really slow when she cries or acts fussy. Two weekends ago, the three of us made a trip out to Shinjuku for a picnic under the cherry blossoms with the Tokyo Mother’s group. It was the first time the three of us went that far for a long period of time and it was nice. Ellie was calm the entire trip and I think she enjoyedRead More →
