Wow, 10 years. Today marks the 10th year I’ve been blogging. That’s a decade of my life. And to think, I started the whole blogging thing back in 2003 as a joke and to goof around. Never would I have ever thought that I’d still be doing it 10 years later. I’m not blogging as much as I did but that’s also because blogging takes up a lot of time, something I don’t have as much of now that Child is here. (FYI, we call E, “daughter” and Kay, “child”) Still, I like to get in a post every now and then just so friendsRead More →

Has it really been a month already? It seems like time has blurred together these days. I guess that just how these hazy, newborn days are…just one big sleep deprivation blur. Luckily, my in-laws were here for a month to help us adjust to life with a newborn. They entertained E and held K while Jason and I got some rest as well as stuff done. But they left for home Sunday night and now it’s just the four of us. Things are going to be interesting from now on. I’m just glad Jason is home at nights again since he was scheduled to workRead More →

Given how it’s New Year’s Eve today in Tokyo, I feel like I should put up one last post for the year. So lets take a look back at 2012 and all the events that happened. This year has been a fairly quiet year here on Hamster Central since real life situations made it difficult for me to keep up with the blogging world. Hopefully things will be better next year but with the arrival of next child in February, who knows what will happen right? I started the year off with the word “change” as the word that will help guide me through 2012.Read More →

Ah, finally a moment to catch my breath. Traveling overseas is never as fun as it sounds, especially if you are flying 11 hours with a 3 1/2 year old and while 6 months pregnant. It’s really not that comfortable for anyone involved in the traveling. But yes, on top of dealing with jetlag after coming back to Tokyo, E also caught a cold and had to stay home from school for a few days. This weekend I’ve also had to deal with some stress inducing personal issues which took up a lot of my time and energy. I’m just looking forward to the endRead More →

So….I turned 32 yesterday. I don’t feel 32 but then again, I’m not sure what one is suppose to feel when they are in their early 30’s. I do however feel very pregnant even though I’m only in my 2nd trimester. But that’s a story for another day. Birthday photo with a bunny dressed in Halloween gear. This year, I’m keeping my birthday very low key. In fact, I would have forgotten about it if not for people wishing me a Happy Birthday. It was nice that my birthday was a national holiday this year and we had a 3-day weekend though. But we stillRead More →

Today was E’s last day at her daycare. She officially begins preschool next Monday. It was really sad watching her say goodbye to her friends and teachers at her daycare especially since she really loves being there everyday. Her teachers even began to cry when they were talking about how much they’ve enjoyed watching E grow up this year and how they wish her happiness at her new school. Both A-chan’s dad (A-chan is E’s best friend) and I began to tear up over the whole exchange too. This was bound to happen one day since many of the kids are getting older and willRead More →

Guess what, my friends? I am back! Well, almost. I’m like the kid who dreads it when summer vacation ends and the school year begins. I’ve enjoyed being on my summer break so much that I almost didn’t feel like coming back for another few months. But there are lots of things to catch up on and lots of exciting stories to tell and definitely lots more on the way. So while I am trying to get my lazy butt back into blogging mode, here’s a recap of my summer. Graduation – Yes, it has finally happened. I have finished my second degree after soRead More →

Ah, it is finally starting to feel like springtime in Tokyo. The city is currently quite pink ever since the cherry blossom trees went into full bloom last week. Many people are heading out and having picnics and getting drunk. It’s definitely an interesting time of the year. Of course, it’s also a season for allergies. Everywhere you go you’ll see people wearing masks and stores are stocked full of products that’ll help alleviate allergies. Even I have finally succumbed to the pollen in the air. Did you know that you can develop pollen allergy just by being exposed to large amounts of it everyRead More →
