One of the fun things about being a clueless foreigner living in Japan is that you tend to run into random parades and festivals every now and then. Today, I had one such encounter. I spent my morning working on something for E when I realized that I needed to go to Yuzuwaya (think Michael’s or Joann’s Fabric) to pick up a few things to finish my project. I had originally planned on going to a bigger branch of the store that’s a bit farther away but I lost track of time and decided to go to the local one in Ginza instead. What wasRead More →

Guess what, my friends? I am back! Well, almost. I’m like the kid who dreads it when summer vacation ends and the school year begins. I’ve enjoyed being on my summer break so much that I almost didn’t feel like coming back for another few months. But there are lots of things to catch up on and lots of exciting stories to tell and definitely lots more on the way. So while I am trying to get my lazy butt back into blogging mode, here’s a recap of my summer. Graduation – Yes, it has finally happened. I have finished my second degree after soRead More →

Wow, it’s been more than a month since I’ve posted, huh? I wasn’t planning on being back till at least next month but I’m making today’s post an exception because today marks Jason and mine’s 6th anniversary. Sometimes it still amazes me how fact these 6 years went by but they have definitely been 6 interesting years. Happy anniversary, Jason 🙂Read More →

I always have something I want to blog about recently but I could never get myself to sit down and actually do it. These days, I’ve been spending less and less time with my google reader as well as the internet social circles. Maybe it’s because I’m still trying to adjust to the changes going on recently as well as trying to figure out what I want to do now that I’m no longer going to school. So I’m taking a break. Not that it’s going to make such a big impact since I post less than one post a week recently. I’m thinking aboutRead More →

I just realized that today is my blog’s 9th anniversary… Happy bloggerversary, Hamster Central! Unlike previous years, this year’s anniversary will be a bit low key since I haven’t been feeling well lately. I haven’t been sleeping well at nights and have also been breaking out in hives for no apparent reason for a week and a half now. These two things have been adding up making it impossible for me to concentrate and do things without feeling tired during the day. I’m hoping a trip to the doctor’s office will shine some light as to what is wrong with me. I’m hoping everyone hasRead More →

Last week, we were watching a news story about an international bread contest where the Japanese beat the French for the grand prize (which apparently is a big deal). Anyway, I offhandedly asked Jason if France was famous for it’s bread. Me: I’m guessing France is known for their bread? Jason: Don’t you remember about my comment about France? M: *stares blankly for a moment* Ah, the baguettes! J: You remember right? M: Yea, you said something about the baguettes in France. Something about how you’ll eat only their baguettes. J: Hehe, yup. M: What was the conversation again? Oh yea, I think I bloggedRead More →

If you can take only one picture, what would you capture? This was a question that a speaker had asked us at one of the lectures I attended a few weeks ago. It’s an interesting question especially since we live in a time where digital cameras make it possible for us to take limitless amounts of photos. I almost feel as if the ease of the digital age has made us think less about what and how we want to capture something because you can just keep taking a photo until you get the right one. I also find it quite thought provoking because youRead More →

Ah, it is finally starting to feel like springtime in Tokyo. The city is currently quite pink ever since the cherry blossom trees went into full bloom last week. Many people are heading out and having picnics and getting drunk. It’s definitely an interesting time of the year. Of course, it’s also a season for allergies. Everywhere you go you’ll see people wearing masks and stores are stocked full of products that’ll help alleviate allergies. Even I have finally succumbed to the pollen in the air. Did you know that you can develop pollen allergy just by being exposed to large amounts of it everyRead More →
