A few weeks ago, we took E to the zoo for the first time. She had a lot of fun especially because she knew the names of most of the animals and seeing them in person was much more exciting than seeing pictures in a book. We saw elephants, and monkeys, and hippos (including a newborn hippo!). Oh, can’t forget about the Jackass Penguins (though the Japanese name translate to “Cape Penguins”. Not sure where the “Jackass” comes from) And then we finally arrived at E’s favorite animal, the giraffe She was so excited to see the giraffe 🙂 Though to be honest, the giraffeRead More →

*Have you checked out my birthday giveaway yet?  No?  Then get to it!  Click here! It ends this Friday!* —————————- I’m still recovering from the whole 3-day weekend/birthday celebration thing and have fallen behind with everything related to the internet (again). It’s amazing how so many things happen when you don’t read Facebook/blogs/etc for just a few days! Anyway, I had a great birthday weekend. It was a very low-key affair. No parties or gatherings or big fancy presents. Just a bit of family time with E and Jason which is totally fine with me. So here’s a quick-ish rundown of my weekend… Salvation Army BazaarRead More →

*Have you checked out my birthday giveaway yet?  No?  Then get to it!  Click here! It ends next Friday!* —————————- Dear mom and dad, Today, I wanted to thank you for giving me life. Mom, you had to deal with me for 9 months and then, on this day, 31 years ago, you went through one of the longest and possibly most painful labor just because I refused to be born.  At least this is what I’ve been told. You two have given me an incredible childhood, one where I got to know what being in a big family was really like. Sure, there was drama,Read More →

Today’s the last day of summer break. Time flies by really fast when your having fun, right? To bid this summer break a fond farewell, let’s revisit that summer to-do list once more, ok? 1. Go swimming with E every Saturday morning. Check.  There were a few Saturdays that we missed class but there was always a valid excuse 🙂 2. Finish my summer classes without stressing out (too much). Check.  And I aced all my classes too 🙂 3. Hang out with Jason more (with and without E).  Check.  We only spent two E-free days but that was more than we’ve had in aRead More →

With all the crazy things going on with us, we decided we needed a break last Sunday. So what do we choose to do? We go out to Baby Disco. Ohh, yea, baby! There really is an event called Baby Loves Disco. I kid you not. In fact, it’s a worldwide thing. You can check it out at babylovesdisco.com We actually went there with the couple of families that we knew from our birthing class. We get together every so often and watch our kids grow up together. It’s pretty fun for both E and I. Anyway, Baby Loves Disco was quite an interesting experience.Read More →

This week has been quite a week. For a while now, I’ve been wondering what life would be like once I settle back into work and school. Obviously, it’s not going to be the same since I have E to care for now. To tell you the truth, I was hoping that everything will work out and I can start the school year off without a hitch. When the week started off with rain on Monday and Jason still limping around, I had a really bad feeling that this was going to be a rough week. I think I jinxed myself because things just gotRead More →

2 weekends ago, we went to Hong Kong…kinda… I mean we went to Hong Kong without really going into Hong Kong.  We actually spent all of our time in Tsuen Wan, which is in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It was a very last minute trip.  We literally booked tickets for the flight out 2 weeks before. It was crazy.  And expensive. The trip had 2 goals in mind: 1) meet up with my in-laws since they will be in Hong Kong to visit family and 2) have E meet her great grandparents. We’ve accomplished both goals over the 3 days we were there.Read More →

This Sunday is Mother’s day. It’s my 2nd official mother’s day and my mom’s 29th. In celebration of my mom, I will write this week’s Writer’s Workshop prompt: 4.) Memories of mom. Now, a few posts ago, I’ve already mentioned that my relationship with my mom is an interesting one.  It’s not the best in the world but it’s also not the worst. I do have some good memories of my mom, though.  A lot of it is stuck in the haze of this blasted cold I’ve caught but there are a few that I can never forget. My mom loves to dance. Oh boyRead More →
