I’m going to talk sports today. Yes, sports….sort of…  And no, I haven’t gone off the deep end….yet. To be specific, I’m going to talk about Japan and the World Cup because that’s pretty much the talk of the town right now….especially since we beat Denmark and made it into the next round. To be utterly honest, I am so not a sports person.  I don’t have a single clue about soccer (or football to the rest of the world) other than the fact that the ball needs to get into the net in order to score.  In fact, I don’t really care much forRead More →

….a handmade Lego cake topper was carefully placed amongst a bunch of daisies that were on top of a 3-tiered, blue colored cake…. ….and a fire alarm accidentally went off at the Universal City Hilton while marriage papers were being signed…. What can I say, we’re just that hot of a couple 🙂 Happy 4th Annivesary, my love 🙂 Here’s to many more anniversaries!Read More →

It’s finally summer in Japan and that means it’s time for the annual “what-the-heck” flavored Pepsi again! Every year, Pepsi Japan comes out with “flavored” versions of their soda for a limited time.  One year it was cucumber Pepsi.  Last year we saw Shiso Pepsi and Azuki bean Pepsi. This year’s flavor? Baobab. So what is Baobab? Well from the illustrations on the bottle, it kinda looks like it’s related to something in Africa.  Here’s a close up image of the label. Now, my Japanese is not very good so I cannot make out what it says on there but I do see the wordRead More →

I have Indian art history on the brain.  (And I mean India Indian, not Native American Indian) I have an art history exam tomorrow on all the Indian art history I’ve learned in the past week and a half.  I can’t believe I spent most of my day reviewing and studying Buddhist and Hindu art.  I feel like my brain will explode… Since I am unable to think of anything else other than art history right now, I will cheat and put up a cute picture of E in her new toy, the medium sized Ikea bucket. Isn’t she so adorable?  I can’t believe howRead More →

Cereal. We all love cereal at one point in our lives, right?  Well at least I hope that everyone had once love cereal.  If you still do, that’s awesome 🙂 I love cereal.  I use to eat it all the time for breakfast because it’s quick and easy and depending on the type, it’s also a bit healthy. I was contemplating about whether or not I wanted to buy cereal when I was at the market the other day.  I ended up not buying any because the selection offered in my area isn’t that great. Typically, you can find a bit of “healthy” cereal likeRead More →

Sorry for the lack of interesting updates…exams are coming up already and I’ve been busy preparing for them in addition to everything else on my plate. To make up for it and in preparation for my exam in this class, I will tell you about the book The Epic of Gilgamesh. Oh yay! I can imagine everyone screaming for joy now. This is the translated version we had to read. In fact, we only had to read only one section of this book, the one with the “standard” version of the epic. So what is The Epic of Gilgamesh? Here’s the academic description… It’s aRead More →

With all the crazy things going on with us, we decided we needed a break last Sunday. So what do we choose to do? We go out to Baby Disco. Ohh, yea, baby! There really is an event called Baby Loves Disco. I kid you not. In fact, it’s a worldwide thing. You can check it out at babylovesdisco.com We actually went there with the couple of families that we knew from our birthing class. We get together every so often and watch our kids grow up together. It’s pretty fun for both E and I. Anyway, Baby Loves Disco was quite an interesting experience.Read More →

June use to be THE month when people got married. I’m not quite sure why but for as long as I can remember, June has always been associated with weddings (at least to me). I love weddings. I love being invited to them. I love attending them. I love watching them. I love being in them. Though, I’ve only been in one and I was the bride so I’m biased 🙂 My favorite type of weddings are the really traditional ones. When I say traditional, I’m thinking more along the lines of the type that have a lot of cultural backgrounds to them…like traditions andRead More →
